New Two Chefs Openings on Phuket

Since the trio of Swedish owners set up their first ever restaurant in July 2001 they have expanded slowly but surely. In 2012, however, their business has entered a stage of faster growth, with a brand new catering business aside two new restaurants and bakery.

Known for their international dishes, Scandinavian specialties and exquisite modern-style Thai food is a big draw for Scandinavians and even more so for tourists from Australia and New Zealand – now their largest customer groups.

Inaugurating their new Two Chefs bistro in Kata they have opted for a slightly different concept than their normal clientele know them for. They are testing new waters with this outlet in several ways. Partly the location: a kilometre inland it is tucked away from the tourist crowds (if coming from Kata Noi Road in south Kata Beach one turns right and follows Kokthanod Road through the village towards the hill). The pricing is also different: here more moderate with the idea to target the locals and foreign residents on the island.

Entirely new on the menu here one can also find Danish smørrebrød.

“This has been included in order to elaborating further on the Scandinavians theme and the need for quality regarding such food,” co-owner Bill Ågren told ScandAsia at the opening.

One can also get Swedish teacake sandwiches with for instance homemade liver pate, boiled eggs and Kalles caviar – favourites on any Scandinavian breakfast menu.

The second new restaurant, with bakery, is situated on Patak road, not far from the Karon Temple. They had their own bakery since two years back but only to cater to their restaurants. Now anyone can come to their bakery shop which offers fresh bread and pastries, including a selection of cakes.

All new is also the Two Chefs Catering, offering anything from delivery of food to family gatherings to full-scale events, be it 20 or 200 guests. Sit-down 7-course dinners for events such as weddings can be arranged. Two Chefs can arrange the whole event and offers the services of their own chefs, professional wait staff, talented bartenders as well as entertainment. Scandinavian food is their specialty but they can accommodate anything.
