“Upswing” directed by Johanna Vuoksenmaa is the Finnish movie to be honored the closing screening of the festival. The movie is a comedy, in which a young successful couple signs up for an extreme experience offered by an unusual travel agent. The “excursion” takes the couple across the city, and into a new world, living as unemployed in the infamous Jakomaki, the scrubby eastside suburb of Helsinki. The movie follows the couple struggle in a new, and a bit too real, environment.
