HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden will participate in the 20th World Scout Jamboree in Thailand in 2003. The King is Honorary Chairman of the World Scouting Foundation. He will be joined by other thousands of scouts who will participate in the Jamboree.
The event is held between December 28, 2002 through January 8, 2003 at Haad Yao, Sattahip, Chonburi province about 180 kilometers from Bangkok. The Jamboree site is located on a plain between with the hills and a white sandy beach with azure seawater.
Sweden’s contingent of scouts will arrive mid-December for preparatory work.
Some 30,000 scouts from 14-17 years old from 150 countries are expected to attend the jamboree.
Jamboree souvenirs are already for sale at the
organizing office in Bangkok.
