Gro Haaversen Barth, the Norwegian priest at the Scandinavian Church in Bangkok, in early June visited Vietnam for the last time before leaving her job to go back to Norway on 23 June. During the visit to Vietnam from 2 – 7 June, meetings were held in Hanoi as well as Ho Chi Minh City with resident Norwegians and staff from the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
Mrs. Haaversen Barth will be replaced possibly in September by a successor, who has not yet been chosen. At first, the Norwegian Seamen’s Mission only received two applications for the job so another search round was conducted. To assist her successor in the transition, Mrs. Haaversen Barth is planning to come to Bangkok for a week or two after his or her arrival.
