Norway, Lao find ways to fight drugs, criminals

Norwegian and Lao officials recently discussed ways to disseminate anti drug information and improve the criminal law in a high calibre meeting.
     The gathering was part of a visit to Laos on February 7-12 by a Norwegian delegation led by Mr Trond Heelland, President of the Judicial Commission of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Norway.
     The delegation met with Deputy Prime Minster and Minister of Foreign Affairs Somsavat Lengsavad on February 7. The two sides discussed ways to find out anti drug information on amphetamine tablets, drug trafficking and criminal issues occurring in the Lao PDR, focusing on Xieng Khuang and Luang Prabang provinces.
     The delegation also discussed in general a further expansion of the relationship and cooperation between the Lao PDR and the Kingdom of Norway, particularly the National Assembly of the Lao PDR and the Parliament of the Kingdom of Norway.
