Danish hotel executive Jan Bundgaard has recently been appointed the general manager of The Westin Kuala Lumpur, which is due to open on September 6 this year. In this role he will lead the upscale hotel in all areas of management and functional operations.
Mr. Bundgaard obtained his diploma in hotel management at Hotelconsult, Le Bouveret, Switzerland, and later went on to pursue his accountancy qualifications with Forte Plc in London. He began his hospitality career in a financial capacity beginning in London, and the job has taken him to prominent locations in Dubai, Monte Carlo, Paris, Geneva and Barbados.
Among positions held, Mr. Bundgaard was the financial controller and hotel manager at The Westin Resort Macau, and financial director for Asia Pacific at Starwood Hotels and Resorts-Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore. He was also the hotel manager at the Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua in Bali, Indonesia.
