Ferrosan expects high growth rates in Asia Pacific

Managing Director Mr. Jan G. Vistisen, Ferrosan Asia Pacific, on Tuesday 10th June 2003 briefed Members of DABS – Danish Business Association of Singapore – about the activities of Ferrosan in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. The briefing doubled as DABS’ traditonal Summer Send-Off event and took place at Tanglin Club.
Ferrosan’s acquisition of Bionax in April this year gave Ferrosan immediate direct access to countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Australia and New Zealand. All of Ferrosan’s activities in the region, including Japan, are now controlled from its Singapore office.
With the highly experienced Jan G. Vistisen in charge and Peder Sahlholt as his deputy managing director, Ferrosan expects sales to grow considerably over the next few. Sales from the Asia-Pacific region contributed last year about 12% to Ferrosan’s global revenues.
In Malaysia alone, which currently account for 30% of its regional revenue, Jan G. Vistisen expects sales to grow more than 20% annually. This growths will be backed by new product launches and increased marketing efforts, Vistisen recently told the daily Malaysian News paper, The Star.
“On a longer term basis, the company would be able to take part in further developments in these markets, thus providing Ferrosan with additional turnover and within a few years, experience strong growth,” he said.
The group, he said, was also planning to expand into India within the next 12 months to cater to the huge demand there.
Jan Vistisen has a combined 16 year experience in Asia including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand primarily with the EAC group of companies. He was most recently managing director, international, in the world’s largest services group, ISS A/S with responsibilities for businesses in Asia, Middle East and South America.
Peder Sahlholt was, prior to taking his new position in Singapore, based in Soeborg, Denmark, and in charge of Ferrosan’s international sales within Western Europe, Asia and North and South America, primarily through partnerships.
