Singaporean telecom operator SingTel has chosen Ericsson as its as sole supplier for SingTel’s WCDMA, or third generation – 3G – mobile phone technology, system in Singapore.
The contract is valued at USD 125 million. The agreement with SingTel comprises a complete 3G system including core and radio access network.
In addition to infrastructure supply, Ericsson will provide a comprehensive portfolio of professional services including network design and systems integration. Ericsson and SingTel will work together to bring new, value added services such as video streaming to SingTel’s customers.
Ericsson will also expand and upgrade SingTel’s present 2G system for a fully integrated, nationwide GSM/GPRS/WCDMA solution.
