MDT secures maintenance deal for Suvarnabhumi Airport

Bangkok’s new international airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is scheduled to commence its operations in 2005, will feature a monorail system from MHE-Demag in Thailand (MDT), as part of the facade maintenance system for the airport complex.
     A 50:50 joint venture between Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) Pte. Ltd. and Demag Cranes & Components GmbH of Germany, MHE-Demag is a leading provider of material handling equipment and systems in the ASEAN region.
     Under the contract with consortium ITOJV, MHE-Demag will supply a 1.3-km. aluminium monorail together with powered platforms for the airport.
     Suvarnabhumi Airport is a project of the New Bangkok International Airport (NBIA), a state enterprise under the supervision of the Thai Ministry of Transport. The airport will cover an area of over 8,000 acres, located on Bang Phli District of Samut Prakarn Province.
