First Thai-Norwegian Breakfast

Munching away on morning rolls and sipping coffee or tea, about eighteen members of the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce Tuesday 9 September listened to a presentation by Niels-Gunnar Hjellegjerde about his company’s brand names within leisure furniture, Scansit, Northern Comfort and Modi.
The event was the first of its kind in the history of the soon-to-be 10 year old Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce. The Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce were co-organizers of the event, but except for Executive Director John Svengren no other Swedes showed up for the event, which started at 8 o’clock in the Basil restaurant at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit.
Niels Gunner Hjellegjerde explained in details how Hjellegjerde builds the reputation of its brand names through first and foremost influencing its core customers, which are not defined as the end users but the retailers. Research shows that 90 percent of the customers buy Hjellegjerde’s furniture on the recommendation of the sales staff at the retailers. And what these core customers’ most important requirements is first of all it’s the very basic requirement that they can rely on Hjellegjerde in delivering the furniture.
”That alone will get you 10 percent more for your goods,” Niels Gunnar Hjellegjerde said.
Hjellegjerde today employs 125 people and the production has increased continously since the start of the production in Thailand.
