Dane killed in head collision in Udon Thani

On Thursday night, 30 March 2017, a Dane and a Thai woman were killed in a car accident in Udon Thani. Four other people, including two children, were also injured as two cars crashed head-on in the Thing Fon district.

According to Chiangrai Times, 61-year-old Michael Eriksen from Denmark was killed in the car crash. The Danish Embassy in Thailand cannot comment on individual cases due to confidentiality, but confirms that a Dane was killed in a traffic accident on Thursday and says that the embassy is providing consular assistance to the relatives.

The fatal crash happened around 19:40. Police and rescue workers arrived to find the two wrecked vehicles still on the road. The Danish man was driving one of the cars and found dead on the spot, while the Thai woman also found dead on the spot was riding the passenger seat in the other vehicle. The four other passengers were badly injured and rushed to the hospital, says Thai media.

Police said they were investigating the actual cause of the accident.
