Midsummer and chicken dance in Beijing

Finnish Midsummer spirit was brought to Beijing as Finns and Chinese gathered for at fun evening at the Finnish Embassy in Beijing on Wednesday 7 June 2017.

The night included interesting speakers, company introduction, a tasty Finnish buffet and plenty of drinks. SuomiFinland 100 Group, Embassy of Finland in Beijing and Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries had set up a successful party, where people laughingly tried to learn the Finnish dance ‘tiputanssi’ – also known as the chicken dance.

Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs, Mika Lintilä, welcomed guest for a night of celebrating Finland’s 100th anniversary with a midsummer theme. Lintilä said that although the weather may sometimes be chilly in June in Finland, the Finns are very warm throughout the year.

Lin Yu, Vice President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, was also delighted to hear Lintilä talking about even closer relations in several cooperation sectors between Finland and China, following the many recent high-level state visits.
