Jarno Syrjälä is Finland’s new Ambassador to China

Finland’s next Ambassador to China has been appointed. The President of the Republic has appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Jarno Syrjälä as Head of Finland’s Mission in Beijing.

Starting in Beijing on 1 September 2017 ambassador Syrjälä will be transfer from his current duties of the Director General of the Department for Africa and the Middle East.

Earlier, he has served as Finland’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and in the embassies of, for example, Berlin, Washington, Ramallah and Tel Aviv.

In the Foreign Ministry, Syrjälä has worked, for example, as Head of the Political Department.

Jarno Syrjälä joined the Foreign Ministry in 1990. He holds the degree of Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration.
