Dated 15 December 2017 the Embassy of Sweden in Kuala Lumpur is warning Swedes of the risk for thefts at the Malaysian capital’s airports Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport2 (KLIA2).
The embassy has noted thefts of passports, money and credit cards increasing at the airports, which also Swedish citizens have suffered from.
“Great caution should be exercised” at the two airports “where there is risk of theft in, among other places, check-in queues.”
“Several Swedes have also had their passports stolen in the transit hall, which lead to them being unable to continue their journey as planned.”
“Make sure to keep passport and money in as safe place as possible. Wearing a money belt inside your clothes could be a good solution,” writes the Embassy of Sweden in Kuala Lumpur.
