Police arrested a thickset tattooed Australian man about 10pm in Patong after two German tourists were shot.
The Australian man was aiming at a Dane who had failed to pay rent for his motorcycle, a Phuket Wan report said.
Two German men were shot Tuesday about 7.45pm on Patong’s Soi Sansabai, where the two German men were staying.
Johann Baschenegger, 41, was seriously wounded and is being treated in Patong Hospital tonight. The other man, Joseph Woerner, 71, was in a satisfactory condition.
Mr Baschenegger took at least one shot on the right side of his body while Mr Woerner was wounded on his left side.
The two wounded Germans ran to a hotel seeking help. Mr Woerner had just arrived on Phuket while Mr Baschenegger had been holidaying for about a month, police said.
