Danish Embassy Indonesia seeks ways for further environmental efforts with Asean

On 17 April Denmark’s Ambassador Casper Klynge to Indonesia, along with Development Officer Emil visited the Asean Secretariat to meet with its Deputy Secretary General Mr Vongthep. The key focus of the discussions was to enhance cooperation on environmental activities to reduce the threat from marine plastic debris.

Plastic debris, especially marine plastic debris, is of global concern, affecting the world’s oceans. Every year tons of waste ends up in the ocean worldwide, posing environmental, economic, health and aesthetic concerns.

In line with the ongoing Danish commitment to Zero Ocean Waste, the Danish embassy hopes to increase cooperation with Asean to protect our oceans and reduce the use of plastic bags.
