Denmark supported religion journalism conference

On 17 October Denmark’s Ambassador to Indonesia Rasmus A. Kristensen gave an opening speech at the conference ‘Religion journalism in Asia’ at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara(UMN). The conference which was organized by The International Association of Religion Journalists (IRAJ) and Serikat Jurnalis untuck Keberagaman (Sejuk). It was attended by among others Foreign Minister Ibu Retno, Jakarta Post Editor-in-chief Pak Endy Bayuni and UMN Rector Pak Ninok.

Denmark is committed to promote democratic values of freedom of speech and freedom of press. Free and nuanced journalism is important to help us advance a better understanding of religion, tolerance and peaceful co-existence. However, reporting on religion can be challenging and sometimes even dangerous for the journalists. Therefore, the Embassy are pleased to support this conference.
