Denmark, US, Japan to raise Myanmar’s labor standard

Japan, the United States, Denmark and Myanmar as well as the International Labor Organization announced an initiative November 14 aimed at improving the labor environment and removing obstacles to foreign investment in the Southeast Asian country.

The Initiative to Promote Fundamental Labor Rights and Practices in Myanmar is designed to “improve Myanmar’s system of labor administration” through a multiyear labor law reform and “foster strong relations among businesses, workers, civil society organizations and the government” of Myanmar, according to a joint statement.
