The President of the Republic of Finland has appointed Counsellor Marja Rislakki as Head of the Finnish Embassy in Beijing as of 1 October 2015.
While this will be Marja Rislakki’s posting as Finland’s Ambassador abroad she is currently serving as Finland’s Ambassador of Cyber Security. She has also worked as the Deputy Permanent Representative and Ambassador at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the European Union, with responsibility for COREPER I issues.
Rislakki was involved in the preparation of the EU enlargement negotiations at the Permanent EU Representation. She has also served in Finland’s embassies in Madrid, London and Brussels.
Marja Rislakki began her career at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1983 where she has held various positions relating to, for example, trade policy and EU affairs. At the Department for the Americas and Asia, she served as Head of the Unit for North America. In 2013-2014, Rislakki served as State Secretary to the Minister of Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
