Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation visits China

Danish Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation, Mogens Jensen, visited China from the 24th of the 27th of February.

The Danish Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation, Mr. Mogens Jensen visited China, including Beijing and Chongqing, from 24. – 27. February 2014.

The purpose of the visit was to promote bilateral cooperation, exchange and dialogue within a number of areas.

In Beijing, the Minister had meetings with Vice Minister of Commerce, Mr. Zhong Shan, where commercial and investment cooperation was discussed. Both sides expressed their pleasure at the current state of cooperation, which is reflected in recent years’ increased bilateral trade and investment activities. The Minister’s agreed that there is vast potential for further commercial and investment cooperation in the coming years.

In Chongqing, the minister met with Party Secretary, Mr. Sun Zhengcai. The two sides agreed on the extremely good relations between China and Denmark. Party Secretary Sun emphasized the Danish presence in Chongqing through commercial activities and investments and through the Danish Consulate General.

The Minister also met with Vice Minister Zheng Wenkai of the State Council Leading Group of Poverty alleviation. They discussed China’s challenges in poverty alleviation as well as how to increase dialogue and exchange on development cooperation in Africa.

Minister Mogens Jensen also met with Chinese and Danish companies and investors in Beijing and Chongqing, including Carlsberg Chongqing brewery and the Chinese cleantech company CSIC.
