Center of competence
“Sandvik Coromant’s training centers are really productivity centers. We see a growing demand for these services in countries like Indonesia where there is strong awareness both at the corporate and government level of the importance of productivity gains as a driver of economic growth and development. Indonesia is on a fantastic journey, and as productivity increases and its industry moves up the value chain the country is on track to becoming South East Asia’s most important manufacturing hub”, explained Klas Forsström, Global President, Sandvik Coromant.

Moving with the trends
The services being offered at the center include all levels of metal cutting training; it will also serve as a place for cooperation in solving advanced application problems as well as providing industry specific support. Every year about 30.000 people attend trainings through Sandvik Coromant, making it the World’s largest training program in the metalworking industry.

The automotive and general manufacturing industries as well as a growing Indonesian focus on aerospace fit the tool and knowledge portfolio of Sandvik Coromant. The Indonesian customers represent ambitious companies dedicated to efficient manufacturing. The fact that some of these companies are present in several countries in Asia Pacific allows a common way of working and exchange of knowledge between Indonesia and other countries in the region.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Swedish Embassy as well as Indonesian partners and official representatives. Klas Forsström and André Nilsson from the Swedish Embassy to Indonesia held inauguration speeches. In order to celebrate the occasion, Ee Sian Lee, President, Market Area Asia Pacific cut the ceremonial rice cake, offering the first piece to the guest of honor Prof. Dr. Ir.
