Scania truck and bus driving skill competitions Thailand 2014/2015

Scania Siam Co., Ltd., co-operating with the government and the private sector, has arranged Scania Driver Competitions Thailand 2014/2015 and reached the championship round in June 2015.

This competition opens up an opportunity for Scania drivers around Thailand in proving their competency and reaching the international standard.

There were prizes worth in total over 1.9 million baht. The winners in 2015 were Mr. Rungtaweechai Sonrod, TNT Express Worldwide (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Truck; and the Mr. Veeranan Auaroon, Thepsombat Co., Ltd., Bus.

Mr. Martin Nilsson, Business Developement Director, Scania Siam Co., Ltd. said about the competition that ”It’s challenge for selected, qualified professional truck and bus drivers around the world and this event draws tremendous interest among more than 100,000 people from 40 countries around the world joining in this year. In the beginning when we started the competition in 2003 there were 18,000 people joining.”

Mr. Phuriwat Rak-intr, Regional Operations Director, Scania Siam Co., Ltd. also commented: ”Drivers are the most important asset for transportation business in term of road safety, excellent fuel economy and minimising the environmental impact. That is why we arrange Scania training continuously for increasing drivers’ skills. The competition is arranged every two years by using the same world-class testing standard, to evaluate drivers’ skills and elevate capability of drivers to this international standard. We injected 10 million baht for realizing the competition and selected 64 qualified drivers, narrowed down to 16 drivers for a semi-final round at Scania branch, Chiang Mai to pass to the championship round.”

Scania Driver Competitions Thailand 2014/2015 received great supports from every sector including the government sector, such as Department of Land Transport; private sector organizations including Thailand Automotive Institute, the social organizations Anti-Drowsy Driving Fund under the Patronage of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Kromma Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, Ramathibodi Foundation; and the business partners Michelin Siam Co., Ltd. and International Driver School
