The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is recruiting a new General Manager, with 31 August 2016 as application deadline.

Swedcham functions as a business platform for Swedish and Swedish-related companies and individuals, currently with Eva Karlberg at the helm as its General Manager.

The job ad reads as follows:

SwedCham HK and the Board of Directors are recruiting a General Manager to serve and support our 160+ corporates, 30+ individual members and 100+ Young Professionals members in best possible way.

As a General Manager, you are the “face of SwedCham HK”, responsible for the overall activities in the Chamber. You will work towards agreed performance and activity objectives and will directly impact the way the Chamber is performing and how it is perceived by its members. As our GM, you will expand your business network in general and in Hong Kong in particular. Position is based in Hong Kong, on a local contract, and report to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications Required
The right candidate assumes and delegates responsibility with ease and possesses a high degree of service mindset. The chamber is very active why a multitasking, creative, “can-do”- attitude is necessary.

As a person, you are social and outgoing, have a strong presence and is confident, self-motivated and performance driven. Your communication skills are good, you are well-organized and a true team player.

Fluent English and Swedish, both spoken and written.

Computer skills are a must. Experience in web site updates, social media, digital newsletter creation and a natural sense of clear and effective communication is also desirable.

We will look favorably on a candidate having a university degree, preferably within business. Experience and knowledge about Sweden, Swedish business culture as well as Chinese business culture is an advantage.

Responsibilities
Day to day operation of SwedCham HK and its office
Member recruitment, develop and execute member value in close cooperation with the Board and with the Chamber’s committees
Plan and conduct events and member activities in close co-operation with committees. Arrange meetings, e.g. Board meetings and Annual General Meeting
Represent SwedCham at various meetings and events within the international community
Manage the financial planning, control and reporting with support from treasurer and Finance committee
