Swedes in boat drama in southern Thailand

Koh Rok

On Monday 23 January 2017, a tour boat caught fire and sank to the bottom of the ocean on its way to Koh Rok in the Ko Lanta district of Thailand. There were 18 passengers on the boat, all of whom managed to escape the boat in time. Among them were two Swedes, the Foreign Ministry of Sweden’s press office reports.

The tourists were supposed to be diving that Monday afternoon, but on their way to the diving site, the boat caught fire. Both the passengers and the crew were forced to abandon the boat. Luckily, there was a fishing boat nearby that could rescue all of the passengers and bring them to safety. Around midnight, all of the passengers were back at their output location.
