Swedish ambassador speaks at Aviation and Climate Change workshop

Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with LFV Aviation Consulting, is holding a 2-day Workshop on Aviation and Climate Change in Hotel Santika Bali, commencing today. This event is part of the Eco Airport project implemented under Partner-Driven Cooperation (PDC) supported by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

The Eco Airport platform aims at transferring knowledge on aviation operations impact on climate change. The idea is that the policy support to the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with LFV will pave ways for expanded cooperation, and the next step is the involvement of a broad ranges of Swedish experts, in particular the private sectors. This umbrella platform encompasses both Ministry of Environment that works on regulation and Ministry of Transport that deals with green airport and green flights elements.

Deputy Minister of Environmental Pollution Control, Mr. Karliansyah and Ambassador of Sweden, Mrs. Ewa Polano are scheduled to deliver opening remarks today morning. In addition to that, the Swedish Embassy will also participate in the Seventh Regional EST Forum in Asia & Global Consultation on Sustainable Transport in the Post 2015 Development Agenda that coincides with the workshop. The EST Forum is organized by United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), Ministry of Transportation – Government of Indonesia and Ministry of the Environment – Government of Japan, which takes place on 23 – 25 April 2013.
