On April 3, the Embassy, together with Nanmeebooks Publishing and the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (PUBAT), arranged a literature event “Happy Reading – Children’s literature in Thailand & Sweden”. The event took place at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in connection with “12 th Bangkok International Book Fair 2014”.
Two well-known children’s literature writers from Sweden Eva Susso and Anna Höglund, who is also an illustrator, talked about modern Swedish children’s books and the history of children’s literature in Sweden. In addition to this, Eva Susso’s book “Babo pekar” was launched in both English and Thai . The event consisted of one full day of seminars, panel discussions and other activities. After having finished their contribution in Bangkok, Anna and Eva flew to Myanmar on April 4. There they continued a discussion about Swedish children’s literature while visiting a Child Care Home in Yangon.
