Vietnam: Danish and Swedish bands to perform at Monsoon Music Festival 2016

The Swedish synthpop group, Kite, and the Danish pop band, Saveus, are both to perform at the upcoming Monsoon Music Festival 2016 in Hanoi, Vietnam, this October

Kite, composed by the duo Nicklas Stenemo and Christian Berg, both from Malmö, debuted in 2008, while their biggest hit is the single, Johnny Boy, from 2010.

The Danish band, Saveus, headed by leadsinger, Martin Hoberg Hedegaard, who is the first winner of the Danish version of X-Factor. Hedegaard released his first single shortly after his X-Factor win in 2008, Show the World, but afterwards withdraw from the music scene. After seven years of silence, he commenced in 2015 with his band Saveus, that was launched at the Danish award show, P3 Guld, the same year.

The two bands are now to perform at the Monsoon Music Festival 2016, but is not the only Scandinavian features at the festival. The Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam has supported the festival and at a recent press conference, a new Danish-inspired initiative, called Lucky Duck, was presented, in which a number of selected upcoming artist will perform at the festival.

“The name Lucky Duck is inspired by Denmark’s Andersen’s fairy tale. This is how we show appreciation to the Danish Embassy in Vietnam and Denmark for their support of Monsoon Music Festival from the very first days,” said Nguyen Quoc Trung, the festival director of Monsoon Music Festival 2016, which also has a Scandinavian main sponsor, the Danish beer brand, Tuborg.

The festival started in 2014 and kicks off this year from 21 to 23 October 2016 in Hanoi’s Thang Long Imperial Citadel and will feature both domestic and international artists, such as the world famous rock band, Scorpions.
