Carl Bildt focused on net freedom

When Carl Bildt, Swedish minister for Foreign affairs, entered the podium to give his speech at the 9th Asem summit in Laos it was his 5th summit and his last. He had chose to speech on freedom of the internet. A delicate issue at a gathering where several participants jails bloggers and block access to sites not  in line with the government’s opinion.

Yesterday Swedish Foreign Minister met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in a sideline meeting at the Asem summit. The Pakistani Prime Minister has used the summit to fight, what he calls, misuse of freedom of expression, calling it extremism.
