‘The Perfect Trio’ won a Danish Embassy-initiated book award

Phung Ngoc Linh, an author of a short story “The Perfect Trio,” was named the winner of the Children’s Book Competition 2011-2012 in Hanoi last Thursday.

The book tells a story about the adventure of a little girl, a cat and a dog.

The competition is an annual activity of Children’s Literature Program – a collaboration of the Embassy of Denmark, The Danish Writers’ Association and Kim Dong Publishing House, aiming at promoting creative literature for social development.

This year 280 writers participated, competing in two categories: story writing for 10-14 year olds under the theme: “My secret” and picture book for 3-6 year olds under the theme “The gratitude”.

In addition to the award ceremony, from 14 to 17 November, a series of workshops for Vietnamese writers, illustrators and students about a new type of picture book called graphic novels were held by Kim Dong
Publishing House and Danish Writers’ Association, facilitated by well-known writer Merlin P. Mann and painter Jan Kjaer.

Kim Dong Publishing House also announced the new themes for 2012-2013: “Overcome the fear” for story writing and “Festivals at my hometown” for picture book.
