Danish Tsunami Memorial Service 16 April in Khao Lak

A memorial service will be held for relatives of Danish Tsunami victims in Thailand on Saturday 16 April on the beach of Khao Lak with the participation of Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.
      It is not yet known how many of the relatives to the 47 dead and missing Danish nationals will participate in the ceremony, but the Danish Embassy in Bangkok has tentatively booked all available 150 rooms at the Khao Lak Merlin Resort between 15 – 18 April.
      The Prime Minister has written personal letters to all relatives of the dead and missing Danes, inviting them to participate participate free of charge in the event. A flight has been chartered for the trip and Denmark will pay all travelling and accommodation expenses for the close relatives of the victims. The Prime Minister himself will also be accompanied by his wife Anne-Matte Rasmussen.
      The priest from the Danish Seamen’s Church in Singapore, Hans Vestergaard Jensen, who comforted many of the survivors and relatives in the first days after the disaster will participate in the ceremony, but the sermon will reportedly be held by Danish Bishop Lodberg Hvas from Aalborg.
      The chartered flight will return to Denmark on April 19.
