Danish Development Minister to Visit Vietnam

The Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, ms. Ulla Tørnæs will visit Vietnam on May 16-20. During her stay the Minister will get a first hand impression of the fisheries sector programme in Nha Trang, the water & sanitation programme in Dak Lak among others, the Danish Embassy in Hanoi informs on their website.

     In Ho Chi Minh City the Ulla Tørnæs will inaugurate a new factory, built by the Danish-Vietnamese joint-venture Viadam, which produces moulds for the plastic industry. The project is supported by Danida’s Private Sector Development Programme.
     In Hanoi the Minister will conduct talks with deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan and Minister for Planning and Investment, Vo Hong Phuc. In the capital the Minister will also see an urban environment project, carried out by the Danish NGO, OVE.

     Vietnam is the first country in Asia that the Minister visits after she took up her new portfolio in the Danish governmnent in February. Ulla Tørnæs previously served as Minister for Education.
