Case Against Asian Tribune Dismissed By A Court In Sweden With Compensation

District Court in Sweden
dismissed the case filed against K.T.Rajasingham, Chief Editior of Asian
Tribune, based in Sweden
by Vijay Eeswaran, a Malaysian National and the Managing Director of Hong Kong
based QI Group and QuestNet Founder. The court has decided that Vijay Eswaran
must pay defendants K.T.Rajasingham’s costs and lawyers fees.
    According
to the final decision of District Court, “Vijay Eeswaran should compensate
Rajasingham for litigation costs in the reasonable amount of (SEK 30,000)
kronor as regards representative costs plus interest on this amount, District
judge stated in the the case
against Rajasingham was filed in Sweden
as Asian Tribune carried in its 15 May 2007 issue a news report about Vijay
Eeswaran after his arrest at Jakarta Indonesia along with and three Filipinos is
awaiting extradition to the Philippines
to face charges of syndicated estafa (Fraud). Vijay Eeswaran took exception to
the statement about, “He is alleged to be a strong LTTE operative.” Vijay
Eswaran major shareholder of Deepam and Tharishnam TVs under arrest in Jakarta.
    Asian
Tribune removed the statement “He is alleged to be a strong LTTE Operative,” on
the request of the Asian Tribune’s web hosting company, from the body of the
news report. Though the statement was removed from the body of the news report,
it remained intact in the introductory portion of the report found on the home
page of 15 May 2007. However Asian Tribune refused to remove it.

filed a case against Asian Tribune in the Norrtalje District Court in Sweden.
    Norrtalje
District Court has now dismissed Eswaran’s claim, due to his refusal to comply
to Asian Tribune’s request that he should give security, according to a law
stipulating that, a foreign plaintiff must give security for costs and lawyers
fees if the defendant requests it.
