Hasan Tiro, the former highest-ranking leader of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) yesterday (26/10) left Aceh to comeback to Sweden where he has been living.
Hasan’s flight took off at 4.50pm from Sultan Iskandar Muda airport in Aceh Besar heading for Malaysia where he will stopover for one day before returning to Sweden.
Malek Mahmud and Zaini Abdullah, former GAM top-ranking leaders and Hasan’s special assistant Muzakir Hamid were with him on the flight.
Hasan Tiro has been visiting Aceh for two weeks since October 11, after 30 years of living outside Indonesia in the USA and Sweden.
Hasan visited Jakarta last Friday and met Vice President Jusuf Kalla and Home Affairs Minister Mardiyanto.
Spokesperson of the Aceh Transition Committee (KPA) Ibrahim Syamsuddin thanked everybody that had helped during the visit of Hasan Tiro to Indonesia.
“Our grateful thanks to the central government, the Aceh government, the Indonesian police and military, the airport authorities, IPI/Interpeace, the European Union, and others who have been involved,” said Ibrahim.
