Annika’s Maiden Venture In Malaysia

Swedish professional golfer Annika Sorenstam will be designing a 63-hole golf course to be completed in 2010, her first sojourn into course design in Southeast Asia.
    The first phase of the Mines Golf City, to be located in Bukit Beruntung, will be an 18-hole course.
    Mines Golf City will also feature a golf and scuba diving academy.
    Mines Resort City founder Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew said: “The resort will be one of its kind and it will attract golf tourists worldwide in droves.”
    He was speaking at a dinner hosted for Sorenstam at the Palace of the Golden Horses last night.
Present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and the Sultanah of Kedah, Sultanah Haminah Hamidun.
    Najib expressed his delight that Sorenstam had agreed to design the golf course in Malaysia.
