Sweden Supports UN Reform Efforts in Vietnam

The funding will help the UN better respond to Vietnam’s changing socio-economic development needs through more coordinated and effective assistance during 2009-2010 period.
Vietnam is one of eight countries worldwide which have supported UN reform at national level since late 2005.
According to Sweden’s Ambassador to Vietnam Rolf Bergman, the “One UN initiative” in Vietnam has been well-organised to move on with impressive pace.
“This shows the clear leadership of the Government of Vietnam and the active involvement of all concerned agencies, donors and other stakeholders in a constructive and transparent fashion,” Mr Bergman said in a press release.
The launch of the One UN Initiative in Vietnam aims to better harmonise the activities of the UN agencies, funds and programmes as a means of achieving greater, efficiency and development.
The Initiative covers five key areas: One Leader, One Plan, One Budget, One set of Management Practices and One UN House.
