17th May Celebrations in Pattaya

The many people of different nationalities who turned up at the celebration of the Norwegian national day made the whole event a good one. It was hosted at the new church located on Soi 7 in Thappraya Road and the many children who attended just made the day that much more special. The only thing missing to get the true authentic feeling of 17th May was a cool north wind that would have made it more comfortable to take part in all the activities under the hot Thai sun.

This year’s 17th May was kicked off with a hearty breakfast for all attendees after which the Seamen Chaplain Jan Olav held a simple and friendly service.

Then of course, it was time for the children’s parade which was full of cheering and smiling faces. It ended at an empty space by the Seamen’s Church where everyone relaxed, chatted, and enjoyed refreshments in the form of sausages, soft drinks, and ice cream in the shade during the May 17th speech by Anne Gunnerød.

Everything was free thanks to our sponsors and Terje Kalback who coordinated the whole event did a great job.

The day ended with fun games for the children after which everyone received a prize, and it was a successful May 17th celebration at the Seamen’s Church in Pattaya!

The Seamen’s Church is located just a few steps from the busy road between Pattaya and Jomtien, and it is easy to reach by public transport. Seamen chaplain Jan Olav wanted welcomes visitors to the magnificent church, which offers a lovely, shady garden. There was plenty of space, even though eventually well over 100 happy guests showed up.
