Singapore has recently been named the world’s most competitive economy in a survey of global competitiveness. During the first quarter of this year, the Singaporean economy experienced a 13 percent growth.

Part of the reason for this massive growth is Singapore’s ability to take advantage of the region’s infrastructure, research and development, international relations, but also of sectors such as telecom. There is now a natural market for companies that want to be forefront with the technology and new solutions.

This has become evident through all the announcements made in Asia’s most influential ICT trade fair, CommunicAsia. Last year, Ericsson launched its new smart phone with Google Android and this year, Altek will launch a phone with 14 mega pixel camera.

This year, the Swedish companies that will be present at the fair are Arkivator Telecom, Fiber Optic Valley, Front End, PopCatcher, Scalado, Synapse Mobile Networks, Sweden Mobile Association, Transmode, and WRAP International.

The Swedish pavilion will be inaugurated on the first day of the fair at 3 p.m. The theme is ”Innovation at various stages – from the contractor’s view of how major companies include innovations in their business.”

Representatives from the global ICT network Ian Koh, head of strategy and product management Singapore / Brunei, Ericsson and Caroline Lewko, founder and CEO of Wireless Industry Partnership, WIP, are two of the speakers.

The opening is arranged in cooperation between the Trade Council, Swedish Embassy and the Singapore telecom authority, IDA Singapore.
