Marit Larsen Heading to China

Marit Larsen, a Norwegian singer and songwriter, will tour China this autumn. Larsen will be performing at the Norwegian Expo pavilion and at the UBPA Square at the Expo site in Shanghai on 29th of September.

The following day she will play at the Mao Livehouse in Shanghai, before heading to Zhenjiang Midi Festival on the 1st of October. She will end her tour in China in Beijing on the 2nd of October.

Larsen first gained international fame during her teenage years as a member of the pop duo M2M with childhood friend Marion Raven. The group’s first single, ‘Don’t Say You Love Me’, reached success worldwide, and the duo released their first album, ‘Purple Shades’, which debuted as number one in Norway and several Asian countries. M2M rapidly gained popularity in Asia, and even released songs in Mandarin, such as ‘Pretty Boy’. The duo was nominated for the “Best Song” category and won the “Best Norwegian Group” honors at Norway’s HitAwards in 2000.

M2M split up in 2002, and Larsen took time off to reflect on her career, but returned in 2006 with her debut single ‘Don’t Save Me’ which stayed at the top of the Norwegian charts for five consecutive weeks. This single was from her solo debut album, Under the Surface, which came in 2006. Her second album, The Chase, was released in Norway in October 2008.

Of her music, Larsen says: “My everyday life revolves around making my songs. I find songs everywhere. In between two words of a conversation. Waiting for the bus. Watching myself in the mirror wearing a good dress. Reading phenomenal books. Walking up the five flights of stairs to my apartment. I’ve always been obsessed with music. Most of my memories, good and bad, have their own soundtrack, which is, by the way, by far the best thing about music.”
