A former IT engineer was fined $8,000 yesterday for molesting a doctor in her clinic.
A district court found Pham Thai Ha, 30, guilty of outraging the doctor’s modesty after a seven-day trial.
On June 8 last year, Pham, a Singapore permanent resident, had gone to the clinic to seek treatment for a rash on his finger.
The 26-year-old doctor told the court that Pham later told her that there was a rash on his buttocks and undressed so that she could examine the affected area. Pham then became sexually aroused and tried to pull the doctor’s hand towards him.
The doctor moved away and went back to her table but Pham then walked up behind her, held her shoulders and tried to kiss her.
Pham could have been jailed up to two years and fined or caned for committing the offence.
