The Norwegian People’s Aid organisation has signed an agreement with the Cambodian Mine Action Centre to fund a one-year research project aimed at collecting detailed information about landmines and explosive remnants of war in the country’s eastern provinces.

In a signing ceremony yesterday, NPA pledged US$250,000 for the project, which will run from the start of 2011 until February 2012, said CMAC General Director Heng Ratana, according to Phnom Penh Post.

He said the project covers Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Kampong Cham, Kratie, Mondulkiri, and Ratanakkiri provinces.
