Søren Jacobsen, Minister Counsellor of the Danish Embassy in Beijing, participated on behalf of the Danish government.

The conference focused on recent water policy developments in China and Europe and discussed the creation of China Europe Water Platform – a forum which will secure a sustainable cooperation between China and Europe in the water sector.

At the conference Minister Consellor Søren Jacobsen introduced a Danish river basin management plan from Odense Fjord – financed by the European Union – that has recently been translated into Chinese.

“Both China and EU are facing similar challenges within the field of water resources and there is a lot we can learn from each other. Several exchanges between Danish and Chinese experts have already taken place and I believe we also in the future can work closely together in this field,” Søren Jacobsen said in his introduction.

He expressed his hopes that the report will serve as an inspiring input in future Chinese river basin management.
