Foreign employees to be registered to the Chinese social security system by November 15th, 2011
According to the information received from the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, companies have to register their foreign employees in the Chinese social security system by November 15th, 2011. Failure to register will be met with a fine.
Chinese authorities will issue further guidelines related to the registration process in the coming weeks.
The social insurance fees are the same for Chinese and foreign employees. The fees need to be paid retroactively, i.e. from 1st of July 2011.
When a foreign employee leaves China, the basic pension insurance fees paid by the employee can be refunded upon application.
