Bilateral Energy Consultations between Indonesia and Norway

The 6th Bilateral Energy Consultations was held recently in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.


The Consultations were aimed at discussing developments in the energy sector in both countries, particularly in the oil and gas industry, electricity sector and development of environment in connection with challenges of climate change.


The Consultations is a result of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Energy in Norway and the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Indonesia which was signed in Jakarta 18 September 1995 by current Prime Minister Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, since he was Minister of Industry and Energy at the time. 


The Consultations were co-chaired by Mr. Odd Sverre Haraldsen, Director General, Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Norway, and Dr. Evita H. Legowo, Director General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource, Indonesia. Representatives from both private and public sector attended the meetings. The Statoil, PETRAD, INTSOK, NVE and the Norwegian Embassy were represented as part of the Norwegian delegation. 


The next consultation will be held in 2013, but the good cooperation will continue in mutually beneficial areas.
