Successful energy efficiency conference in Dalian

On 22 November 2011, IN’s Energy Management Program and DEEC hosted the conference “Methods and Project Models for Energy Efficiency in Chinese Buildings” in Dalian with the speaking slots shared quite evenly between Chinese and Norwegian representatives.

The main focus was on how to achieve the ambitious goal for energy efficiency set out in China’s 12th five-year plan.

Opening remarks were given by Deputy Director General Mr. Lu Gang from Jinzhou New District in Dalian and Mr. Sven Karlsen from The Norwegian Embassy and IN’s Energy Management Program (EMP), before IN’s Dr. Gao Peng followed up with a thorough presentation of EMP.

From the Norwegian side, Iva Holubova and Rolf Selmer from Energy Saving International (ENSI) gave valuable presentations about Municipal Energy Efficiency Planning and experiences from Oslo Municipal Energy Efficiency Fund, while IN’s  Sven Karlsen gave a thorough presentation of the principles and practical examples of Energy Management and Energy Monitoring Systems in buildings.

There were around 80 participants at the seminar, from local government, universities and local enterprises with interests in energy efficiency in their own facilities.

The local TV-station (DDA TV) filmed the seminar, interviewed with Mr. Sven Karlsen and showed a report about the event on the evening news the same day.

The seminar thus proved to be a good arena for promotion of the Norwegian approach on energy efficiency, to improve the local focus and knowledge about energy efficiency and to strengthen DEEC’s role as an active and attractive partner in the energy efficiency market in Dalian.

DEEC was established in 2009, with indirect help from The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).
