Volvo IT to take over the ICA’s data centre

Volvo IT, a fully owned Volvo company, will by the end of 2012 take over handling the data centre of ICA’s logistics systems. The ICA Group is one of Northern Europe’s leading retail companies with around 2150 own shops and related retail-stores in Sweden, Norway, Latvia and Lithuania.

According to the SIX News, the agreement is for 3 years and includes the entire ICA’s mainframe data management. Neither the ICA or Volvo IT want to inform the contract amount.

“The datacentre is hosted today by IBM and the transition to Volvo IT will take place at the end of 2012,” said ICA’s IT manager Yngve Nivaeus to SIX.
