The Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is organizing the first ever Finland-themed week in Hong Kong during 10 to 16 December. The idea of the week is to showcase Finland, Finnish know-how and Finnish culture under the event title ‘What’s Up Finland? The Finnish Week in Hong Kong’.
The week sponsored by Mr Henry CC Chan JP MH, Pear & Carrot and Rapala, includes seminars regarding the world’s famous Finnish education system and innovation ecosystem as well as entrepreneurial thinking in Finland.
The first event on 10 December was a breakfast seminar, ‘Small country, big ambitions’, which reportedly was a great discussion around Finnish/Nordic/worldwide innovation. Speakers were: Dr Sari Arho Havrén, Consul for Innovation at Business Finland and Iñaki Amate, Partner at EY Hong Kong, Head of design for APAC.
What’s Up Finland week also brings the authentic Northern Christmas spirit to Hong Kong: On Tuesday 11 December FinnCham and Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce organizes together a Glögg Mingle & Finnish Christmas Market, where visitors can purchase traditional Finnish food and beverage products as well as hear and learn about the Finnish companies operating in Hong Kong.
The other Christmas Market, Stanley Plaza Finnish Christmas Wonders will be held on 8.-9. and 15.-16. December presenting wide variety of Finnish lifestyle and food and beverage products. At the both Christmas Markets one of the most famous Finnish persons, the Moomin, will be present offering visitor a opportunity to get a picture taken with the lovely Moomin.
To showcase the healthy Nordic lifestyle of Finland, there will be the first ever Nordic Walk 4km evening walk to be arranged as a part of the program on Thursday 13 December.
The grand final of the week is the Celebrate Finland Gala on 15 December at the American Club; an event connecting Finnish business community in Hong Kong to the local business community.
