Swedish top trio in EU-China Cleantech Competition

At the Next-Gen Energy & Cross-Border Innovation Summit, as part of CleanConnect 2018 summit in Nanjing (held in November), the results for the EU-China Cleantech Competition were presented.

Swedish innovative cleantech companies took all three top spots, with Meva Energy awarded first prize.

Following a detailed scouting, some 35 European sustainability tech companies were invited to Copenhagen in September to meet with Chinese investors and potential partners and to participate in the EU-China Cleantech Competition. This resulted in five companies being selected as finalists and to participate in the CleanConnect 2018 summit in Nanjing. Meva Energy was one of those companies.

The final presentations and evaluations took place in Nanjing, resulting in the jury selecting Meva Energy as first prize winner.

“Meva Energy´s innovative biomass gasification technology faces a strong market interest in China. There is a substantial need for circular conversion technologies both in order to reduce and valorize waste streams and in order to produce renewable energy. Further, Meva Energy´s approach of producing low-calorific biogas instead of pure biomethane or SNG is a very relevant business model to cut production costs of renewable energy,” said Dr Rong Xu, CEO of Umore and head of the organizing committe of CleanConnect.

The EU-China Cleantech Campaign creates a stage for cleantech companies to flourish, with partners offering training, coaching, and financial support. It attracts innovators, entrepreneurs and professionals to come together and creates cleantech connections between EU and China.

The jury consisted of investors, industry VIPs and influencers.
