Ambassador confirms Ikea coming to Philippines

There has long been talk about an IKEA opening in the Philippines. At a roundtable media meeting, Harald Fries, Ambassador of Sweden to the Philippines, apparently confirmed that an IKEA would be coming to the Philippines soon. The opening of an IKEA would imply major investments and recruitment of manpower.

“There would be great opportunities for Filipinos to find work and there would be investment in putting up stores,” said Harald Fries at the media meeting. “I won’t be surprised that once they have set their camp here, they’ll be looking for local manufacturing. I think that would be wonderful and interesting for the Philippines.”
