Carlsberg bids on Chinese brewery

Carlsberg is now realizing promises of investing heavily in Asia. The Danish brewery has put in a bid for stocks in Chongqing Brewery (CBC). Carlsberg is already the largest shareholder in the Chinese brewery.

”Carlsberg is already the largest sharreholder in CBC med a sharehold of 29.7 percent. Should the bid be accepted, Carlsberg will gain control over CBC and potentially own up to 60 percent of the shares,” says Carlsberg management.

Carlsberg believes that the investmentst will be in the sum of 2.65 billion DKK but management expect to see large savings because of their control of the brewery.

“The transaction will mean that Carlsberg as controlling shareholder of CBC will take over the direct management of the brewery.”

”Instead of arguing with a lot of shareholders, Carlsberg can now push through some of the instruments they know to work. For example in sales, distribution, prizing and branding,” says analyst of Sydbank, Morten Imsgaard to boersen.dk
