This year Pippi Longstocking, the strongest and kindest girl in the world turns 70 years old! Pippi is one of the most famous Swedish children’s book characters.

Pippi is not only strong and kind, but she is also independent, generous, playful, funny and adventurous. The Embassy of Sweden invites you to join us in a celebration of Pippi with family fun activities at the Central Public Library on 29th November!

Sweden’s beloved author Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi is one of the most popular children’s book characters. The books about Pippi Longstocking are translated into 70 languages and have sold over 60 million copies. Astrid Lindgren had a passion and a very strong conviction that all children need books, and she knew that libraries, preschools and schools play a huge part in stimulating children’s interest in reading. The Pippi Longstocking character is a true spirit for children all over the world.
